partial exit
Closing only part of a trade to lock in some profit, and letting the rest keep going.
The fuller meaning
Closing part of a position at a first target and letting the rest run, often with a trailing stop. It banks some gain and reduces risk but also caps the average win; the split must be decided in advance so it follows the plan, not emotion.
