Playing an old chart forward one candle at a time, as if it were live, to practise or test your rules.

The fuller meaning

Stepping through historical candles one at a time with the future hidden, used for manual backtesting and practice. It lets a trader apply frozen rules honestly and log every trigger; like a game replay, a journal replay also shows the mistakes memory forgets.
