choppy market
A market that jumps back and forth sideways without going anywhere, so many signals turn out wrong.
The fuller meaning
A sideways, directionless market with frequent reversals and overlapping candles. Trend tools such as moving-average crosses and engulfing patterns fire often and fail often here, producing whipsaws, so many traders cut size or skip trend signals until price leaves the range.
