exhaustion gap
A last big jump near the end of a long move, when the move is running out of energy and often turns back.
The fuller meaning
A gap that appears late in a long, extended move and is often filled quickly as the trend runs out of fuel, unlike breakaway and runaway gaps. The type is often clear only afterwards, so traders confirm with price action before treating a gap as exhaustion.
