trend

The main direction price is moving over time: up, down or sideways.

The fuller meaning

The prevailing direction of price, read from structure: higher highs and higher lows for an uptrend, lower highs and lower lows for a downtrend, neither for sideways. Traders need several swings to call a trend; signals with the trend usually have better odds.
