after-hours

Trading that happens after the main market day ends, when fewer people are buying and selling.

The fuller meaning

The US extended-hours session after the regular session closes at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Volume is usually thinner, spreads wider and moves jumpier, often reacting to results released after the close; some stocks may show no quotes at all, and the main session can open at a different price.
