The price a seller wants. If you want to buy right now, you usually pay this price.

The fuller meaning

The ask, or offer, is the lowest price at which someone will sell right now, so it is what a buyer pays for an immediate fill. It sits above the bid, and the gap is the spread, a cost on every round trip that widens in thin hours and around big news.
