Something valuable you can own or trade, like shares, coins, gold or money.

The fuller meaning

Anything of value that can be owned or traded: shares, bonds, currencies, commodities or crypto. On a company's balance sheet, assets are what the company owns, set against liabilities, what it owes. Highly correlated assets tend to win and lose together, which matters for risk.
