FOMC
The group at America's main bank that meets to decide the basic cost of borrowing money.
The fuller meaning
The Federal Open Market Committee, the Federal Reserve body that sets US monetary policy and the policy rate. It schedules eight meetings a year, about every six weeks; decisions and statements are high-impact events on the economic calendar.
