When a result comes out about the same as experts expected, so there is no big surprise.
The fuller meaning
A result or data release close to estimates or forecast. With no surprise, the reaction is usually small and short-lived, and any move depends more on guidance or on what was already priced in; a forward test is also called in line when it matches the backtest.
