inverted hammer

A candle with a small bottom and a long line sticking up, found after a fall: buyers tried to push up but got pushed back.

The fuller meaning

A single-candle pattern after a decline: a small body near the low and a long upper wick. Buyers took one big swing upward and were pushed back, so it is weaker than a hammer and needs confirmation, such as the next candle closing higher. After a rise the same shape is a shooting star.
