A monthly report showing how many people have jobs, which tells how healthy a country's economy is.
The fuller meaning
The US Employment Situation report, released monthly at 08:30 Eastern Time, showing employment and job growth. It is a high-impact event: markets react to the surprise against forecast, and spreads can widen and prices jump in the minutes after release.
