supply and demand

How much of something there is compared with how much people want it. Less supply or more demand pushes prices up.

The fuller meaning

The balance between available quantity and buying interest that sets price. The lessons name it the main fuel of commodities, tracked through reports such as weekly oil inventories; on charts, support and resistance are read as zones where demand or supply stepped in before.
