upper wick
The thin line above a candle's body, showing how high price went before coming back down.
The fuller meaning
The line from the top of the body to the candle's high. A long upper wick shows buyers pushed price up but sellers pushed it back before the close; shooting stars and gravestone dojis are built on long upper wicks.
