cash market

The part of the market where you buy real shares and own them, even just one share.

The fuller meaning

The segment where securities are bought and sold for normal settlement and ownership, as opposed to futures and options. In India's cash market you can buy a single share, settled T+1 into a demat account, while F&O contracts come in exchange-set lots.
