core trading session

The main part of the trading day, when most people are trading and prices are busiest.

The fuller meaning

An exchange's regular session, as opposed to pre-market and after-hours trading. The NYSE core session runs from 9:30 to 16:00 New York time; volume is usually deepest and spreads tightest then, and the official opening and closing prices are set in it.
