Two kinds of money priced against each other, like euros in dollars. The number shows how much of the second buys one of the first.

The fuller meaning

The format in which forex trades: base currency / quote currency, such as EUR/USD. The rate shows how many units of the quote currency buy one unit of the base; buying the pair means buying the base and selling the quote, and moves are measured in pips.
