daily price limit

A limit on how far a share's price may move in one day. When it hits the limit, it cannot go further until tomorrow.

The fuller meaning

A per-stock cap on how far price may move in one session, set around the previous close: Tokyo sets a daily price limit for each stock, and India sets daily price bands on many shares. When the limit is hit, orders can pile up there while trading beyond it is blocked for the day, trapping traders who need to exit.

daily price limit, also called price limit, price band.
