expiry
The date when a trading contract ends and must be paid up.
The fuller meaning
The date on which a futures or options contract ends. Futures holders must roll or accept delivery or cash settlement, and the basis shrinks toward zero into expiry; an option at expiry is worth only its intrinsic value, since time value has decayed away.
