How long you keep something before you sell it.

The fuller meaning

The time a position is held. For tax it decides short-term versus long-term treatment, such as more than one year for US listed shares and more than 12 months in India; for trading it picks the boss timeframe, so a trade meant to last days follows the daily chart.
