pre-open

A short time before a market opens when orders are collected to help set the first price of the day.

The fuller meaning

A session before continuous trading in which orders are entered and matched to discover an opening price. NSE's and BSE's pre-open runs from 9:00 to 9:15 India time, before the normal market opens at 9:15; the first minutes after the open are often the most volatile.
