rollover
Switching from a buy-it-later deal that is about to end to a new one that ends later, to keep your trade going.
The fuller meaning
Closing an expiring futures contract and opening a later month to keep a position. The price gap between contracts means a roll can cost or earn money: in contango a rolled long position keeps buying a pricier contract, in backwardation it tends to gain.
