India's official market referee, which makes the rules for shares and trading in India.
The fuller meaning
The Securities and Exchange Board of India, India's statutory securities market regulator, set up in 1992 to protect investors and to develop and regulate the market. Under its rules exchanges set F&O lot sizes and review them every six months, and it has tightened rules on index options.
