setup

A situation on the chart that matches the kind of trade your plan is looking for.

The fuller meaning

The chart conditions that define a trade opportunity under the plan, such as a pullback to support in an uptrend. A setup is not an entry: the entry trigger, stop, target and size complete the trade, and setups that fail the checklist are skipped.
