An app or device that holds your crypto coins, protected by secret words only you should know.

The fuller meaning

Software or hardware that holds the keys controlling crypto funds. In self-custody the wallet's recovery phrase is the only backup and must never be shared, including with people claiming to be support staff; coins left on a platform instead depend on that platform's safety.
